🐾 Meet Pumpkin Pie — A Sweet, Gentle Soul Looking for a Calm Home 🐾

Pumpkin Pie is an 8-year-old girl with a heart as warm as her name. When she was found as a stray, she was skinny, exhausted, and covered in mud. It was also clear she hadn’t had an easy life — likely overbred and bearing little nicks and scars that hint at a difficult past. With good food, veterinary care, and kindness, she has made a wonderful recovery and blossomed into a calm, gentle companion.

Gentle truly is the best word to describe Pumpkin. Even when she feels unsure, she is never aggressive — she simply hangs back and looks to her person for reassurance. She is a soft, sensitive dog who just needs time to feel safe and understood.

Because of her past, we believe Pumpkin may have never truly lived in a home environment before coming to rescue. She briefly went into a home but was sadly returned for being slow to warm up and having accidents in the house while adjusting. For this reason, Pumpkin will need patient adopters who understand that she is still learning what home life is all about. She may not be an instant cuddle bug, but with time, patience, and encouragement, her true personality will continue to develop. It’s hard to say exactly who Pumpkin will become once she feels fully secure — but we know she has a very sweet heart.

Pumpkin Pie has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is now simply awaiting her 6-month post-treatment recheck to confirm she is heartworm-free. She is also on a vet-prescribed kidney diet to help keep her kidney levels stable. Her spay and dental cleaning have already been completed, so she’s ready to start her new chapter.
