Foster-First Kitten Program Raised in homes. Adopted with confidence.

At H.A.L.O. No-Kill Rescue, our kittens don’t wait in cages — they grow, thrive, and socialize in loving foster homes until they’re truly ready for adoption.

Our Foster-First Kitten Program allows us to save more lives, protect vulnerable kittens from illness, and match families with kittens who are healthy, well-adjusted, and ready for success.

Why Foster First?

• Kittens avoid exposure to shelter-borne illness

• They receive daily socialization in a home environment

• Medical needs are monitored closely

• Personalities shine through — helping create better matches

• We save more lives during peak kitten season

Where are these Kittens?

Our foster kittens live in private foster homes throughout the community. They are not yet on the shelter floor. Meet-and-greets are scheduled by appointment once kittens are:

• Old enough

• Medically cleared

• Approaching adoption readiness

What's the Adoption Process?

1. Submit an adoption application

2. Our team reviews and matches families thoughtfully

3. Meet-and-greet scheduled with foster

4. Adoption finalized once medical milestones are met

Some kittens may have a short waiting period before going home — this ensures the healthiest start possible.

What is Medical Readiness?

All Foster-First kittens receive:

• Age-appropriate vaccines (Adopters who reside in Indian River County will receive a County tag required by Indian River County.

• Deworming & parasite prevention

• FIV testing

• Microchips

• Spay/neuter prior to adoption

• Ongoing veterinary oversight
