Dear Rescue Friend,
As we welcome a brand-new year, we are also stepping into a remarkable milestone, 20 years of Helping Animals Live and Overcome! Two decades of compassion, dedication, LOVE, and second chances. And as I reflect on what these 20 years represent, Lulu comes to mind.
Lulu’s journey is the very heart of why we exist. She came to us broken, fragile, facing challenges that most shelters would deem “too much.” But here, she was met not with limits, but with possibility. She was given time, treatment, love, innovative care, and the chance to fight for her future. And every day she proved why no-kill matters. Because this is what no-kill looks like.
A promise that every life is worth fighting for, no matter their age, their medical needs, or the obstacles in front of them. A belief that healing, both the physical and emotional, happens when a community comes together to lift up the voiceless.
Lulu is one story, but she represents thousands. For 20 years, H.A.L.O. has stood as a safe haven for animals who need more than just shelter – they need hope. Since 2006, we have watched broken animals become extraordinary success stories.
The next 20 years will bring more innovation, more lifesaving programs, more support for our community, and more miracles. Together, we will continue to change lives, one animal at a time, and make a lasting impact not just in Indian River County, but across the no-kill movement.
Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for standing beside us. And thank you for helping us ensure that every animal, just like Lulu, has the opportunity to heal, to thrive, and to find their forever home.
Here’s to 20 years of no-kill rescue and to the next 20 years!
