Meet Nona 🤍 — a goofy, loving, high-energy girl who is ready to steal your heart.

Nona came to us after being picked up as a stray in Okeechobee, and thanks to a foster family, we’ve been able to see just how special she is. She quickly settled into home life—sleeping in bed, playing with toys, and soaking up all the love she could get. Since then, she’s gained healthy weight, healed up beautifully, and shown just how resilient and affectionate she truly is.

At around 16 months old and expected to be about 40–45 pounds, Nona is playful, athletic, and full of personality. She loves walks, car rides, fetch, other dogs, belly rubs, and snuggling up close after she’s burned off some energy. She already knows “sit,” “down,” and “stay,” and while she’s still working on leash manners and confidence in new situations, she’s eager to learn and just needs continued guidance. She is doing well learning to go potty outside too, but needs frequent outings to help her continue getting the hang of things.

Most importantly: Nona is heartworm positive and has now started treatment in a loving foster home where she can recover in the low-stress environment she deserves, rather than spending two months confined to a shelter kennel. During treatment, she simply needs to stay calm—meaning more rest, more snuggles, and limited activity for a short time—and we’re so grateful she has a safe place to heal.

While Nona is not currently available to go home until her treatment is complete, we are happily taking names and numbers for anyone interested in adopting her once she’s finished recovering. She would thrive in an active home that can also provide structure, patience, and love. She’s still a puppy at heart—silly, affectionate, and full of life—and she’s ready to give everything she has to the person who gives her a chance.
