Maggie is only 2 years old and an Anatolian Shepherd mix, so she’s incredibly smart, energetic, and loves having things to do! She LOVES treats, toys, and apparently socks, too, so you might want to hide those!
Maggie was recently diagnosed with heartworms. Although that sounds scary, heartworms aren’t contagious, and she is currently receiving treatment. Our hope was for her to receive treatment in a foster home, but sadly, she wasn’t getting along with the dog in the home and had to return to us.
Because Maggie needs to keep her heart rate low during treatment, she isn’t available to meet in person until her treatment is complete. However, if you’re interested in adopting her, please contact our office, and we can reach out when she’s available to meet!
That being said, because of her size and enthusiasm, Maggie can sometimes be a little more bulldozer than graceful! For that reason, a home with children ages 8 and up would be best. She’s also shown us that she’d prefer to be the only dog in the home, and during her temperament test, she made it very clear that she is NOT a fan of cats.
Maggie is currently used to using potty pads, so in a new home, she may need to learn how to ask to go outside and adjust to a new routine. But she’s young, smart, and we think she’ll catch on pretty quickly! She’s also used to having free run of the house, whether her humans are home or not, so she’s already got that part down!
And when it’s time to relax? She’ll happily hop onto your couch or bed and cuddle right up with you. ❤️
If Maggie sounds like your kind of pup, please fill out an adoption application!
