At 1 year (almost 2), Ryder is a Cattle Dog mix with a big heart, endless energy, and some questionable snack choices! When Ryder first arrived at H.A.L.O., he was underweight, with irritated skin and missing fur around his eyes. But this handsome boy is on the mend! He’s gaining weight, and his beautiful coat is growing back. It’s amazing what a little TLC can do!

Ryder is an affectionate, playful guy who loves walks, toys, treats, and spending time with his people. He’s housebroken, crate trained, knows a few tricks, and rides nicely in the car. He’s also done well with cats and dogs during temperament testing, and we haven’t seen any reason he couldn’t live with children!

Like any young pup, Ryder is still learning his manners. Furniture and dog beds sometimes look like chew toys, and fluffy toys are a definite no-go without supervision — he’ll eat the stuffing to get to the squeaker! He’ll thrive with a family ready to keep his clever Cattle Dog brain busy, help him burn off energy, and patiently guide him along the way. Loud noises can startle him, and he’s a little nervous about grooming, so a gentle touch goes a long way.

Ryder doesn’t need a perfect family, just one willing to see his potential, celebrate his progress, and love his goofy, affectionate self.
