Meet Debby!

At just 2 years old, this adorable Chihuahua is super friendly and incredibly sweet!

She loves cuddles, taking things slow, and even spa days! Yep, this girl LOVES bath time! She’s gentle and relaxed when it’s time to unwind, but take her outside and she loves chasing squirrels! When it’s time to go inside, just tell her, “Let’s go inside,” and she knows exactly what that means!

Unfortunately, Debby previously lived outdoors alongside two other dogs, and it just wasn’t a good living situation for any of them. Her owner made the difficult decision to surrender all three so they could have a better chance at the indoor life they deserve, filled with comfort, safety, and attention. Debby is also known to be scared of fireworks, so keeping her safe and sound during festivities is a must.
She’s used to living with both dogs and cats and has done well with them! We were told she’s housebroken, although she may need a little refresher after spending so much time outdoors. She’s also escaped her previous backyard before, so supervision is definitely recommended when outside!

One thing we want to mention is that Debby tested positive for heartworms and will need treatment. The good news is that heartworm disease is treatable, isn’t contagious to people or other animals, and H.A.L.O. will be covering the full cost of her treatment! She’s scheduled to start November 20th. During treatment, she’ll need a calm home where she can take it easy while she heals. We’d love to find her a family before then so she has time to settle in and get comfortable. If we can’t find her a home before treatment begins, she’ll sadly need to stay at H.A.L.O. throughout the whole process, as changing homes mid-treatment can be difficult for dogs.
