Right now, animal shelters nationwide are facing a post-pandemic crisis of overcrowding and underfunding. The current adoption crisis can be attributed to the decline of virtual work, a national housing shortage, less pet-friendly accommodations, and the rising cost of supplies and vet care. Without question, we are facing the worst emergency the animal welfare system has seen in years.
Remodeling the dogs kennel accommodations is essential to decrease staff burn-out, and dog psychological distress.
New kennels will provide immediate comfort, reduce stress and anxiety, and help increase adoptions by not suppressing the true personality of the dog due to stressful conditions.
At H.A.L.O., we provide love, medical care, enrichment and a promise to every Rescue to get a second chance at life, but we need your help today to give them more!”

H.A.L.O. receives no funding from the county, yet we house more than 40% of our community’s homeless pets.

The videos below depict our back dog runs. In May 2024 we were able to see the completion of the 1st set of 10 outside suites. The energy difference in the dogs is palpable and a wake up call to what our dogs deserve!
What is our Vision?
Since H.A.L.O. opened in 2006, our dogs have been housed in indoor/outdoor runs in a 3,000 sq. ft. building which were built by the previous boarding facility. While we have tried to maintain the space and materials as best as possible, they have deteriorated to the point that the quality of life for the animals is no longer acceptable.
With the assistance of an Animal Arts architect who specializes in animal shelters, we have created a new design for the building that will provide a much better quality of life for our Rescues.
The new dog suites will be more sanitary which will reduce the spread of infectious diseases and parasites. More importantly, the new suites will be open floor-to-ceiling which has been proven to reduce dogs’ stress and anxiety.
Why does H.A.L.O. need new kennels?
Animal welfare has evolved to where the animal’s emotional health is considered as paramount as its physical health.
We must do better than to simply kennel and contain those who are homeless and helpless. The animals who come to us did nothing wrong; the humans failed them. H.A.L.O,’s dog facilities are deteriorated and outdated.
The kennels are dark, loud and scary.
The walls are failing and gates are corroded and rusted.
The air is stagnant.
The floors are beyond repair.
While our staff and volunteers take care of those in need today, we cannot forget how critical it is for us to look to the immediate future. Our current facility is substandard. Space is cramped. The current design of kennels is traumatic for most of the pets. The animals deserve better. The community deserves better.

What is the Campaign Goal?
While you can’t put a price on rescuing animals in need, there is a price on the significant improvements needed for the 3,000 sq. ft. building. Our goal is to raise $1.5 Million.
Can I make Installment Payments?
Yes, you can pledge now and pay your pledge in installment paments over the period of two years.
Will you Accept Planned Gifts?
Yes, but they will not be utilized for the primary campaign goal. In order to meet our current and immediate needs, we need gifts of cash, stocks, and other appreciated assets.
Are Stocks and other Property Accepted?
Yes. Gifts of stock and property can have substantial tax advantages for a donor. You may be eligible for deductions up to the full market value of the asset and may be able to avoid capital gains on the appreciated property. We encourage you to speak with your tax or financial advisor to determine the best way to make your gift.
Is my Gift Tax Deductible?
Yes. Helping Animals Live and Overcome, Inc. (H.A.L.O.) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and all gifts are tax deductible under EIN 20-8466866.
