Once upon a time, Athena had a family who loved her dearly. But when a new baby arrived, she struggled to feel comfortable around the little one. With another baby on the way, her family made the heartbreaking decision to find her a home where she could feel safe, relaxed, and loved without the stress of living around young children. Now, this sweet 6-year-old American Pit Bull is ready for her next chapter, and she’s hoping you’re part of her story! ❤️

Athena’s idea of a perfect day? Chasing squirrels, playing tug-of-war, munching on fruit and treats, and ending it all with belly rubs, head kisses, and a serious snuggle session! She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly emotionally intelligent. She loves her people and even enjoys having visitors, so don’t be surprised if she wants to make a new friend when company comes over!

Athena is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows commands like sit and lay down. She’s happiest in a home without children under 5 and will need a family who understands that she can sometimes be protective of her bones. As for other furry friends, Athena is currently rooming with two dogs in her foster home and getting along just fine! She had a couple of moments of sass during her shelter dog test, though, so slow introductions are a must. She also seemed to do well with cats at the shelter, and her previous family says she enjoys playing with them, too! 🐶🐱

Athena’s family loved her enough to recognize that she deserves an environment where she can truly thrive.
