Meet Chicklet

Meet Chicklet — The Biggest Little Baby! 🐾

Don’t let his name fool you — Chicklet may be a Chihuahua, but he’s the biggest of his little crew! This handsome boy came to H.A.L.O. alongside two Chihuahua friends after their previous owner realized that life outside wasn’t the safest option for them, especially with their knack for escaping the yard. While his two buddies unfortunately tested positive for heartworms, Chicklet got some wonderful news of his own: he’s heartworm negative!

Chicklet is a quieter, more laid-back kind of guy. He’s a little slow to warm up to new people, but underneath that reserved exterior is a sweet little baby who just needs someone willing to give him time to feel comfortable. His previous owner described him as the biggest of the three, but also the biggest baby! He enjoys chewing on treats and bones, is housebroken, and is generally content to spend his downtime lounging and snoozing.

He’s previously lived with other small dogs and has done well with canine friends here at the shelter, too! He also tested well with cats, making him a potentially wonderful addition to a home with other furry companions. Because Chicklet can be a little shy when meeting new people, we recommend a quieter home without young children, ideally with kids over 12 who understand the importance of giving him space and letting friendships develop at his own pace.

Chicklet’s story is a reminder that sometimes the best thing we can do for an animal is give them the chance to start over. He’s ready to trade life outdoors for a cozy spot on the couch, a few tasty treats, and someone who will show him just how good being someone’s cherished little companion can be.
