Hi there! My name’s Khalid, and I’m a little guy with a big heart and a story to tell. I came to the shelter with my seven housemates — most of them have already found their families, so now it’s my turn to find mine!
When I first arrived, I had these things called cherry eyes (don’t worry, they weren’t actual cherries!), but the nice people here got me all fixed up, and I don’t need any medication going forward. I’m feeling so much better now and ready to enjoy life!
During my first few weeks at the shelter, I was pretty nervous and didn’t enjoy being picked up — everything was new and a little overwhelming for me. But over time, I’ve been blossoming into a happy little guy! Once I get to know and trust you, I even seem to enjoy being picked up and cuddled. It just takes me a little while to feel totally safe.
Because I can be nervous and quick on my feet when scared, my friends here say I’m what they call a “flight risk.” That means I’ll need either a home with a securely fenced yard, or someone who can make sure I’m always safe when doors open or when I’m outside. If I get scared and someone tries to chase me, I tend to run even farther — so patience, calm reassurance, and some tasty treats will go a long way with me!
I’m partially housebroken, but I’m smart and eager to please, so with a consistent routine, I’ll pick things up quickly. If you’ve got a gentle heart, a secure yard, and a little patience, I’d love the chance to learn that forever homes really are as wonderful as they sound. 💛
