Some dogs come to us with a history we know. King and Rico came with only each other.

These two boys were found walking down a road together in Central Florida. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan took them in, hoping to reunite them with their family or find a rescue willing to help. When that search led him to H.A.L.O., King and Rico finally had a safe place to land—and now they’re hoping their forever home is next.

While we don’t know what their lives looked like before, it’s obvious these boys share a bond that only brothers could have. They look out for one another, find comfort in each other’s company, and have the sweetest, most gentle personalities. They’re housebroken, love affection, and are simply looking for a quiet home where they’ll never have to wonder where they belong again. Like many senior dogs, both boys have some stiffness in their joints, but daily joint supplements help keep them comfortable and moving well. Based on their introductions here at the shelter, we don’t feel they would do well in a home with cats, but they appear to do well with other dogs and should do just fine with respectful children.

During Rico’s exam, we removed a few lumps and are currently awaiting biopsy results. Our veterinarian felt a growth removed from his gums appeared benign and did not recommend sending it for testing. We’re hopeful his future family will see what we see—a loving dog whose worth could never be measured by a medical report.

King and Rico have already proven they’ll stand by each other through everything life throws their way. Now all they need is someone willing to stand by them.
