Introducing Morty!

This adorable 1-year-old Chihuahua is ready to find his way back into a loving home!

Morty came to us as a transfer from another shelter, so we don’t have much history on his past. What we do know is that he’s a little guy who needs time to feel safe.

Morty is a bit of a “stranger danger” kind of guy. He’s naturally cautious around new people and will need someone willing to go slow and let him warm up at his own pace. But once he opens up, we think he’ll make the most loyal little shadow!

And don’t let that shy first impression fool you! Morty is actually a very playful little guy. Once he’s comfortable and his personality starts to shine, you’ll get to see his fun, energetic side, too!

Because of his fearfulness, we think a home with children ages 12 and up who understand boundaries and respect his space would be the best fit.

Morty temperament-tested well with both cats and dogs! And as for house training, given his age and unknown history, he may need a little refresher. His future family should be prepared to offer patience, consistency, and guidance while helping him learn the ropes.

Morty isn’t the kind of dog who will necessarily run up to you and become your best friend in five seconds. He’s going to need someone who understands that trust takes time. But earning the love of a little dog who finally feels safe? That’s something special.
