Meet Oakley! 💙
This 2-year-old Chihuahua is ready to trade outdoor living for cozy naps, companionship, and a place to call his own! Oakley is a friendly, relaxed guy who enjoys being around people.
Oakley came to H.A.L.O. after living outdoors alongside two other dogs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best situation for any of them, and his owner made the difficult decision to surrender all three in hopes of giving them a better chance at life indoors. We’re told Oakley is scared of fireworks, so he’ll need a safe place to feel comfortable during fireworks. He’s also managed to escape his previous backyard before, so a secure outdoor area and supervision are a must. As for house manners, we were told he’s housebroken, although he may need a little refresher after spending so much time outdoors.
Oakley also tested positive for heartworms and will need treatment. While that might sound scary, heartworm disease is treatable, isn’t contagious to people or other animals, and H.A.L.O. is covering the full cost of his treatment! He’s scheduled to begin November 20th.During treatment, Oakley will need a calm environment with restricted activity while he recovers. We’d love to find him a home before then so he can settle in and get to know his new family before starting treatment.
