Some dogs let hardships slow them down. Sage never got the memo.

This stunning three-legged coonhound has already been through more than most dogs ever should. We don’t know what happened long ago that left her missing a leg, but Sage has spent every day since proving that resilience can come wrapped in floppy ears, soulful eyes, and a hound dog howl. She first came to H.A.L.O. in 2024 and thought she had found her happily ever after, but due to unexpected financial hardship, her family heartbreakingly had to return her. They described her with nothing but love: active, affectionate, behaved, friendly, and full of personality.

And personality she has.

Sage is the kind of dog who throws herself into life at full speed — literally. Three legs don’t stop her from running around the yard, tossing toys in the air, or living out her coonhound dreams. She loves being outside, loves being with her people, and loves making sure everyone knows exactly what’s happening in the neighborhood. Cars driving by? Suspicious. Neighbors existing? Worth discussing. Silence? Absolutely overrated.

Underneath all that houndy commentary is an incredibly well-rounded girl. Sage is housebroken, knows the command “heel,” and gets along beautifully with cats, dogs, and humans of all ages. She’s the kind of dog who can make you laugh one minute with her dramatic opinions and melt your heart the next by leaning into you for affection.

Sage isn’t looking for perfection. She’s looking for someone who will see her the way we do: not as a dog missing a leg, but as a dog overflowing with life, love, and joy. She’s already survived hard chapters — now she just needs the forever family worthy of her next one.
