If German Shepherds had yearbooks, Samson would probably win “Most Likely to Bring You His Ball Every Five Minutes.”
This handsome 6-year-old long-haired Shepherd is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. After being lovingly passed from one family member to another to keep him out of a shelter, Samson’s owner was seriously injured in a car accident and is facing a lengthy recovery after upcoming surgery, making it impossible to give Samson the care and exercise he deserves.
Samson is everything people love about German Shepherds: intelligent, loyal, affectionate, and full of personality. He knows sit, stay, lay down, shake, and catch, and one of his favorite activities is playing ball. When he’s not showing off his skills, he’s happy to relax with his favorite blanket and pillow while soaking up attention from his people.
According to his previous owner, Samson is housetrained, gets along with both dogs and cats, and settles down quickly when left alone. He may protest your departure for a few minutes, but he’s not destructive and doesn’t have accidents in the house. His biggest weakness? Squirrels. If wildlife appears, Samson would very much like to investigate.
While at the shelter, Samson has shown some protectiveness around his food, so we feel a home with children 8 years and older would be the best fit. Otherwise, he’s been a wonderful dog—even earning gold stars during his veterinary exam for being cooperative and easy to handle.
If you’re looking for a smart, loving companion who will happily play fetch, keep an eye on the neighborhood vacuum cleaner, and be your loyal best friend, Samson is ready to meet you.
