For the last nine years, Skye had the most important job in the world: taking care of his person.

This handsome 9-year-old Husky first came to H.A.L.O. as a young dog before being adopted as a service dog. Being by his owner’s side wasn’t just what he did—it was who he was. As he got older and could no longer provide all the support his owner needed, he was lovingly retired and placed with another family. They cared deeply for him, but after a lifetime of constant companionship, Skye struggled being left alone and developed separation anxiety.

Now, he’s looking for a home where he can simply do what he loves most: be with his people.

For a Husky, Skye is wonderfully laid-back. He’s housebroken, loves relaxing indoors, enjoys playing with people and other dogs, and knows sit, shake, and lay down. He can even balance a treat on his nose like a pro. His favorite snack is popcorn, and loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks are not his favorite.

Skye isn’t looking for another job—he’s already done that. He’s looking for someone who is home often and wants a loyal companion by his side. After spending his life caring for others, it’s finally his turn to be the one who’s cared for.

Skye recently discovered that stuffed toys are especially tempting and has made it his mission to squeeze, chew, and work at small toys until he can swallow them. Because of this, his new family should be mindful about keeping small toys or similar soft, chewable items safely out of reach. A home without small children would be best to help prevent him from accidentally eating children’s toys.
