Hi there—my name is Susie, but around here they like to call me Susan from Accounting.
Apparently, I give off the vibe of an old office lady who’s been doing the same job for 60 years, and honestly…they’re not wrong. I know what I like, I know what I don’t, and I don’t have much interest in changing my ways at this point in life.
I came to the shelter after my beloved owner passed away. The person who took me in tried their best but couldn’t keep up with all my needs, so here I am looking for a retirement home where I can live out my golden years in peace. When I first arrived, my skin was a mess—itchy, red, and uncomfortable. Thanks to good vet care, special food, and treatment, I’m doing much better now. These days I’m no longer on medication and have even transitioned to a salmon-based diet to see if my skin stays happy on a more regular food. So far, so good!
Let’s be honest: I’m set in my ways. I don’t bounce around like a puppy, and I’m not always thrilled if people handle me a way I don’t approve of. The shelter folks call it being “old lady bitey”—which sounds dramatic, but really, I’m slow about it and give plenty of warning. I would simply do best in a home without kids, since little ones don’t always understand when an old lady just wants her space.
That said, I do enjoy affection on my terms, cozy naps, a calm environment, and the dignity of being treated like the seasoned office professional I clearly am. If you’re the type of person who appreciates a quirky old gal with personality, boundaries, and charm, I just might be your perfect coworker…er, companion.
Love,
Susan (but you can call me Susie if you’re friendly) 🐾
