Meet Van! 🐾

At almost 6 years old and 22 pounds, Van is proof that you don’t have to be a big dog to have a BIG personality! This handsome Schnauzer is a professional lap warmer, fetch enthusiast, tug-of-war champion, and full-time shadow—all wrapped up in one adorable little package.

Van came to H.A.L.O. after his family’s circumstances changed and they could no longer give him the time and care he deserved. After six years in a home, he’s ready to start his next chapter with a forever family.

Van is happiest when he’s right by your side—or preferably right on top of you! He loves fetch (and actually brings the ball back!), tug-of-war, car rides, and of course, serious lap snuggles. He’s housebroken, crate trained, nondestructive, and perfectly happy to snooze on the couch while you’re away. Once he settles into a new environment, he’s ready to be your devoted little sidekick.

Van gets along well with other dogs, although big or loud dogs can bring out his tough-guy Schnauzer act. His family says he’ll growl during a game of tug with another dog—but at 22 pounds, his intimidation factor is mostly adorable. 😂 Once he gets to know them, he’s ready to play!

He even had a bunny friend at home, and the two would chase each other around the house—which sounds more like a tiny furry sitcom than anything else!
