Hi Rescue Friends,

I had an aha moment!

In focusing on the future of no-kill rescue, I would like for us to reinvent what no-kill rescue is currently and what it can be.

For the last 15 years H.A.L.O.’s mission has been centrally focused on creating a safe-haven that maintains a 98% save rate and in seeing our County rise from a 50% save rate in 2006 to a 90% save rate today.

But, NOW it’s the perfect time for H.A.L.O. to expand beyond the traditional shelter model of intaking and adopting out animals and create something exceptional for the community and our animals.

It’s time to shift some of our energy to bringing a Pet Support Center to our community.

We need an education center, a temporary housing facility, more support programs, more public medical services, more foster support programs, more behavioral care in shelter and public, increased community access to emergency supplies and pet food, a lost pet reunification center, a volunteer space, an isolation space, a feline special needs center, a public meet and greet space, and more.

We need a space for animals and humans to have the tools to continue to drive the no-kill movement to new heights, for people to have solutions to keep their pets when able, and to increase our lifesaving goals with a focus on the 10% still being euthanized in traditional shelter models because those are the ones that need us most.

I hope you can feel my excitement about what the future brings for no-kill rescue and THANK YOU for sticking by my side through this wild journey!

Believing in Miracles,

Jacque Petrone
Executive Director
