Dear Rescue Friend,
As we welcome the Spring season and embrace new beginnings, I find myself humbled. Twenty years ago, H.A.L.O. was built on a young (some would say naive) girl’s dream: that every life deserves a chance.
Since then that belief has grown into a lifesaving mission that has touched thousands of animals and families. As we look ahead, we are excited to share the launch of something new and deeply meaningful to us: our Foster-First Kitten Program. This program was created with one goal in mind – giving our tiniest, most vulnerable Rescues the very best start possible.
Instead of transitioning from foster homes into the shelter, kittens are now adopted directly from their foster homes, meaning they never have to spend a single night in the shelter. By keeping kittens in foster care until adoption, we significantly reduce the risk of infectious disease and parasites, which are more easily spread in shelter settings.
This program not only improves health outcomes, it also creates a smoother, more loving transition from foster care to permanent homes. The Foster-First Kitten Program keeps kittens safe, healthy, and happy while increasing successful adoptions and saving more lives. It’s a beautiful example of how innovation, compassion, and community come together to save lives.
As we celebrate 20 years of impact, we do so with eyes set on the future and we are excited to continue to evolve, improve, and find better ways to care for the animals who need us most.
